Meet the Newest Cousin
By Sam on July 16th, 2010
How would you feel about finding a long, and seemingly lost cousin from South America? Well the health world is in love with the long and seemingly lost cousin to the blueberry and cranberry that is so well known to North America. This long, and seemingly lost cousin from the south is known as the acai berry. It is an inch long purplish to redish colored fruit from the acai palm tree. Research on the acai berry has focused on its possible antioxidant activity, and we all know how great antioxidants are for our minds and bodies. Maybe we all should take the time to get to know this long, and seemingly lost cousin from the south on a personal level!
The Controversy is Out There
Google search, yahoo search, bing and ask.com…. it doesn’t matter where you type it in, you are going to come up with hundreds of hits for the Acai berry search. The latest health fad is also one of the strongest controversies out there. Is the berry a health food marvel and the biggest miracle since penicillin, or is it just an over rated and super advertised kin to the humble blue berry? Many say that it is loaded with antioxidants, amino acids, essential omegas, fibers and proteins which make it great for the heart and improve the digestion. The only way to make sense of the controversy is to try it for yourself and decide.
